President Emmerson Mnangagwa has called on Zimbabweans to unite, take pride in national development milestones and support youth empowerment, saying the economy is on a growth path anchored on beneficiation, value addition and ongoing policy reforms.
He made the remarks while addressing mourners gathered for the burial of National Hero Brigadier General (Retired) Donald Silundi Tshuma.
In his address, the President urged young people to “defend the revolution”, reject narratives he said seek to denigrate Zimbabwe, and take an active role in building the country. He said the youth should position themselves at the centre of national transformation and contribute positively to the national development agenda.
The President’s message comes amid continued Government emphasis on programmes linked to youth participation, innovation and the national development drive under Vision 2030.
Mnangagwa also highlighted the importance of economic pride, urging citizens to back local development efforts and the broader economic strategy focused on beneficiation and value addition, which are intended to expand opportunities and strengthen growth.
The burial of Brig Gen (Rtd) Tshuma brought together mourners from across the country to pay tribute to the late liberation war veteran, who was declared a National Hero.
Bindura Eye will publish further updates if additional official details are released on the proceedings or resolutions announced at the event.
