Police clear Harare Arsenal fans’ street parade after Premier League title win

Zimbabwe Republic Police have cleared Arsenal supporters in Harare to hold a street parade on 31 May after the club won the 2025/26 English Premier League title, according to a report by Express Mail Zim.
The parade is set to start at 2pm from Harare Gardens and end at Alex Sports Club. The report says the police approval correspondence is dated 22 May.
Arsenal secured the league crown this month, their first title in 22 years since the 2003/04 “Invincibles” season under manager Arsène Wenger. The London club has now won 14 league titles in its 140-year history, the report added.
Human rights lawyer and Arsenal supporter Obey Shava confirmed on X that the parade had been approved, but said the development left him with concerns about consistency in how the law is applied.
“The clearance does not sit well with me,” Shava said, according to the report, adding that he has previously represented clients in similar circumstances whose applications were rejected.
Express Mail Zim also reported that a member of the Harare Arsenal Supporters Chapter had pledged four cattle to be slaughtered for fans during the planned celebrations.
The report said supporters watched Arsenal’s final match across various venues in Harare’s uptown and downtown areas on the eve of Africa Day, as fans marked the end of the club’s long wait for another league title.
