Zimbabwe’s Warriors have been boosted ahead of their Unity Cup third-place play-off in London after striker Prince Dube joined the squad on Wednesday, according to an update from the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA).
Dube linked up with the team after being released by Tanzania’s Young Africans S.C., as Zimbabwe continue their tournament preparations following Tuesday’s 2-0 defeat to Nigeria in the semi-final at The Valley.
ZIFA also confirmed that defender Gerald Takwara took part in his first training session with the squad after arriving late, missing the build-up to Tuesday’s match.
In a statement, ZIFA said the Warriors held a light recovery session after the semi-final, adding that the group had been strengthened by the two arrivals.
“The Warriors held a light recovery session today following last night’s Unity Cup semi-final clash against Nigeria at The Valley in London,” ZIFA said.
“The squad also received a boost with the arrival of Gerald Takwara and Prince Dube as preparations continue for the next assignment.”
Zimbabwe will play the loser of the second semi-final between India and Jamaica in the third-place match, ZIFA said.
The latest squad developments are likely to be closely watched by local supporters, including in Mashonaland Central, where interest in Warriors team news and the Unity Cup in London has remained high.
