Defending Castle Lager Premier Soccer League champions Scottland are set to make their first appearance in continental football in September after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) confirmed dates for the preliminary rounds of the 2026/27 CAF Champions League.
The Mabvuku-based club qualified for Africa’s top inter-club tournament by winning the 2025 PSL title in their debut season in the top flight, securing Zimbabwe’s only CAF Champions League berth.
According to CAF’s provisional calendar, first preliminary round matches will be played from 4 to 6 September, with the second legs scheduled for the following week.
Teams that progress will move into the second preliminary round, with first legs set for 16 to 18 October and return fixtures a week later.
If Scottland navigate the qualifying rounds, they will reach the group stage, which is expected to start in late November and run through February before the knockout phase begins.
As part of preparations for their maiden CAF Champions League campaign, Scottland have accepted an invitation to play South African giants Kaizer Chiefs in the Toyota Cup.
The Zimbabwean champions are also awaiting the CAF preliminary round draw, expected in the first week of August, which will determine their first opponents on the continental stage.
Scottland will further be hoping the National Sports Stadium is approved by CAF in time to allow them to host home matches in Zimbabwe.
