The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has released the names of 27 convicted drug peddlers who were arraigned before the courts and sentenced to varying prison terms, as part of what it describes as an ongoing national drive against drug and substance abuse.

The list, contained in a police press statement dated 8 June 2026 and signed by Commissioner Paul Nyathi, follows an earlier ZRP statement in which 55 drug peddlers were “named and shamed”.

For Mashonaland Central, the list includes Rosemary Revai Mafaiti (32) of Hill Compound, Mazowe, who police said was convicted for unlawful possession of dagga and sentenced to 30 months’ imprisonment.

The police statement also names Innocent Chiurira (31) of Chiwaridzo Phase 2, Bindura, who was convicted and sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment for unlawful possession of dangerous drugs. Another Bindura resident named in the statement is Nigel Jim (25) of Clusters, Bindura, who police said was convicted and sentenced to 15 months’ imprisonment for unlawful possession of dagga.

Most of the other convictions listed in the press statement relate to Bulawayo and surrounding areas, including Magwegwe, Pumula South, Mpopoma, Mahatshula, Nkulumane, Sizinda and Northend, as well as Plumtree, Lower Gweru, Silobela, Fort Rixon, Epworth and Madlambuzi.

Among those named are Lucias Moyo (55) of Randeni Road, Bulawayo, who was sentenced to nine years’ imprisonment for dealing in dangerous drugs, and Valentine Bhebhe (35) of Matole Homestead, Lower Gweru, who was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment for unlawful possession of dagga.

In the same statement, ZRP reiterated that it has “no going back in the fight against drug and substance abuse”, and urged members of the public to continue supplying information on drug peddling.

Police said reports can be made through the National Complaints Desk number (0242) 703631 or via WhatsApp on 0712 800197.
