Egypt and Zimbabwe discuss infrastructure partnerships as Ambassador Maha Serageldin meets Local Government Minister Daniel Garwe

Zimbabwe’s Minister of Local Government and Public Works, Daniel Garwe, has met Egypt’s Ambassador to Zimbabwe, H.E. Dr Maha Serageldin, to discuss ways of strengthening bilateral cooperation in construction and infrastructure development.

According to information from the engagement, the two also explored the exchange of expertise in crisis management and emergency response, as both countries look to deepen practical cooperation in areas linked to public works and service delivery.

Ambassador Serageldin highlighted the interest of Egyptian companies in forming partnerships with Zimbabwean firms, with a focus on delivering projects through business-to-business collaboration.

Garwe commended the expertise and reputation of Egyptian companies on the continent and cited their implementation of infrastructure and urban development projects in Africa. He also affirmed Zimbabwe’s interest in strengthening cooperation with Egypt in these areas.

While the meeting centred on national-level cooperation, infrastructure delivery has direct implications for communities across Mashonaland Central, including urban planning, housing, roads and public facilities managed through local authorities.
