DURBAN, South Africa – Fastjet Zimbabwe has renewed its IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) certification, with the registration now valid until April 2028, according to information released during Africa Travel Indaba in Durban.

The airline said the renewal was achieved under IATA’s newer IOSA Risk-Based Audit (RBI) methodology, which assesses an operator’s compliance against industry standards while also taking account of operator-specific factors such as its operational profile, safety events and audit history.

Fastjet Zimbabwe first achieved IOSA certification in October 2024. The latest renewal marks the airline’s first registration under the enhanced risk-based approach.

Nunurai Ndawana, a spokesperson for fastjet Zimbabwe, described the renewal as a significant milestone. “Renewing our IOSA certification is a landmark achievement for fastjet Zimbabwe. This milestone reflects our airline’s safety-first culture and our continuous drive to strengthen operational excellence. We are proud of our teams, whose discipline, professionalism, and safety mindset have resulted in this renewal,” Ndawana said.

Captain Joe Mparuri, the airline’s Accountable Manager, also reiterated the carrier’s focus on safety. “Safety remains our utmost priority,” he said, adding that renewal under the Risk-Based Audit methodology “demonstrates our safety-first culture and firmly positions fastjet Zimbabwe as a trusted airline that prioritises safety in all aspects of its operations”.

The airline said it offers flexible booking change options and free baggage allowances across its network. It added that its lowest fares are available on its website, www.fastjet.com.

For travellers in Mashonaland Central, where residents regularly use air links through Harare for business and family travel, developments around airline safety standards and IATA certification remain a key consideration when choosing carriers, especially during peak travel periods.
