BINDURA – Mashonaland Central Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Retired Captain Christopher Magomo, presided over the burial of liberation war veteran Bonus Mangwiro, whose Chimurenga name was Pedzisai.

Information shared by Mash Central Info Desk said the burial took place yesterday afternoon and was attended by family members and Zanu PF provincial members.

In remarks attributed to the minister, Magomo said the province and the nation had lost a liberation fighter and a community member who contributed to Zimbabwe’s development.

“We gather here with heavy hearts to bid farewell to one of the gallant sons of the soil, Cde. Bonus Mangwiro, whose Chimurenga name was Cde. Pedzisai. His passing has robbed the nation, Mashonaland Central Province and indeed the people of Bindura District of a courageous liberation war fighter, a patriotic cadre and a devoted farmer who dedicated his life to the emancipation and development of Zimbabwe,” the minister said.

Community leaders in Mashonaland Central have in recent years continued to encourage the preservation of liberation war histories, including documenting the contributions of veterans in districts such as Bindura, Guruve, Mount Darwin, Rushinga and Mbire.
