The National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) has appointed Reason Machigere as Executive Assistant to the Chief Executive Officer, in a move the organisation says forms part of efforts to strengthen leadership capacity and improve operational efficiency.

The appointment comes as NRZ continues a broader restructuring and transformation programme focused on modernising railway infrastructure, improving service delivery and strengthening corporate governance.

According to information provided by NRZ, Machigere will support the Office of the CEO through executive coordination, strategic administration, stakeholder engagement and implementation support for key organisational initiatives.

NRZ has in recent months implemented several leadership changes as it seeks to accelerate reforms, recapitalisation and an operational turnaround at the national rail operator.

The rail utility has positioned its ongoing changes as part of a wider push to restore reliability in rail services and improve organisational performance, as it works towards long-term modernisation goals.
