Police raid unlicensed medicine lab in Ruwa, recover products worth US$25,000 as suspect sought

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) says it has shut down an illegal medicine manufacturing operation at an unlicensed premise in ZIMRE Park, Ruwa, and arrested a man in connection with the case.

In a statement cited by Express Mail Zim, police confirmed the arrest of Blessed Magagoyi, described by ZRP as being linked to the illegal production of medicines at the site on 14 May 2026.

“The ZRP confirms the arrest of Blessed Magagoyi (25) in connection with illegal manufacturing of medicines at an unlicensed premise in ZIMRE Park, Ruwa on 14/05/26,” police said.

During the raid, officers recovered medicine manufacturing machinery, finished products, raw materials and packaging materials. Police said the recovered items had an estimated street value of US$25,000.

The ZRP listed some of the seized products as Honey Bean Medicines, Gut Restore Powdered Medicine, Cynocene Medicines, Fotal Harmony and Cardio Cene Capsules.

“The arrest led to the recovery of the medicine manufacturing equipment, finished medicinal products, including Honey Bean Medicines, Gut Restore Powered Medicine, Cynocene Medicines, Fotal Harmony and Cardio Cene Capsule, medicine making raw materials and packaging equipment with an estimated street value of USD 25 000.00,” the police statement said.

Police said investigations are continuing to establish where the raw materials came from and to locate a second suspect.

“Further investigations are in progress to account for the source of the raw materials and to arrest the second suspect, Tonee Tapiwa Vambe who is being sought in connection with the case,” ZRP said.

Zimbabweans in Mashonaland Central and beyond have in recent years raised concerns about unregulated medicines and unauthorised health products, particularly those sold through informal markets and online platforms. Authorities continue to urge the public to use licensed pharmacies and report suspicious products to law enforcement and health regulators.
