RAN Mine donates clear-view fence for Bindura Provincial Heroes Acre

Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Mashonaland Central, Christopher Magomo, has attended the official handover of a clear-view perimeter fence donated by RAN Mine at the Provincial Heroes Acre in Bindura.

Magomo said the fence will help protect the site, which he described as the final resting place of Zimbabwe’s liberation heroes, from encroachment and vandalism.

He said the donation was a corporate social responsibility initiative which, in his view, turns the values associated with the liberation struggle into practical protection and preservation of a public heritage site.

Magomo also linked the donation to Government’s development approach, “Nyika Inovakwa neVene Vayo”, which he said emphasises shared responsibility among citizens and institutions.

He commended RAN Mine for what he described as a consistent record of community support, citing previous assistance to RAN Mine Primary School in the form of desks and chairs.

At the same event, the minister appealed to other corporate players to increase their contributions towards completing projects at the Provincial Heroes Acre.

He said several components remain unfinished, including the construction of a Heroes Museum, the establishment of a Roll of Honour, modern ablution facilities and further improvements to terracing, landscaping, pathways, lighting and general beautification.

Magomo concluded by thanking RAN Mine for the donation and urged potential corporate partners to support specific outstanding works required to complete the site.
