The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) says it has arrested 530 people countrywide during its ongoing operation targeting unregistered motor-cycles and breaches of road traffic rules.
In a press statement dated 6 June 2026, the police said the nationwide campaign—dubbed “Register Motor-Bikes and Wear Helmets”—follows an earlier ZRP statement issued on 14 January 2026 about motor-cyclists failing to comply with road traffic laws.
According to the update, 447 arrests relate to operating unregistered or plateless motor-cycles, while 83 arrests are for riding without protective helmets.
The police said it remains concerned that some motor-cyclists continue to disregard traffic regulations by using unregistered motor-cycles, failing to wear helmets, carrying excess passengers and engaging in reckless riding.
ZRP urged motor-cyclists, passengers and other road users to comply with the Road Traffic Act (Chapter 13:11) and other relevant regulations.
Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the Chief Staff Officer (Press and Public Relations) to the Commissioner-General of Police, said the current operation will continue across Zimbabwe, with officers conducting compliance checks and enforcement activities.
“Those found violating road traffic regulations will be arrested without fear or favour,” Nyathi said in the statement.
